I provide editing services for clients ranging from authors and publishers to students and business owners. Clients have included Peter Bowerman, Phil Ward, Christina Stanton, the International Council on Active Aging, Abilene Christian University Press, Westchester Publishing Services, Reformation Heritage Books, and many more.

 

Editor, Pepperdine University

I currently coordinate publication of the annual academic catalog at Seaver College and edit the academic catalog for the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. I have also edited books published by Pepperdine University Press, reports from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and publications from other offices and individuals as needed.

 

Crosswind Media & Public Relations, 2011-2016

Proofread and edited blog posts, white papers, proposals, website copy, and more on an as-needed basis. Crosswind, which is based in Austin, Texas, serves clients across the country with particular expertise in the areas of healthcare, energy, and crisis communications.

 

Managing Editor, Christianity and Literature, 2005-2011

C&L is a quarterly, peer‐reviewed, academic journal with about 1,000 subscribers; it publishes about 800 pages of essays, book reviews, and poetry per year. In addition to copy editing and proofreading all content, I took care of most day-to-day office details—managing subscriptions and submissions, coordinating production of the journal, communicating with contributors and subscribers and maintaining the website.

 

Editor, proofreader for individual authors and editors

Have worked with a number of individual authors and editors to prepare manuscripts for publication, serving as proofreader, copy editor, and/or indexer for both books and magazines. Titles include GreatLife magazine, Journal of Christian Economists, Surprised by God by Kindalee Pfremmer De Long, and Muslims and the State in Britain, France, and Germany by Joel S. Fetzer and J. Christopher Soper.

Have written articles that were published in Journal on Active Aging, Child magazine, Ventura County Star, Austin American‐Statesman, Christian Chronicle, 21st Century Christian, Power for Today,  Leaven, and the newsletters of the Editorial Freelancers Association and the Small Publishers, Artists, and Writers Network.

Worked as a copy editor and proofreader on a variety of publications, mostly business‐related books, such as The Business Playbook by Brandon Steiner and Million Dollar Habits by Brian Tracy.

Freelance proofreader and copy editor for dozens of academic journals, including Journal of Management Inquiry, Journal of Language and Social Psychology, and Environment and Behavior.

Have created indexes for a variety of books, including Missionary Capitalist: Nelson Rockefeller in Venezuela (The University of North Carolina Press); and Friends of the Unrighteous Mammon: Northern Christians and Market Capitalism, 1815‐1860 (University of Chicago Press).
